For someone who can’t speak right now — and the family beside them

When speaking is hard, one tap is enough

TalkForMe is a free AAC communication app for people who cannot speak after a stroke, with ALS, or after ICU extubation. No typing — just tap a large card and the phone speaks the need aloud. It can also repeat the line in a caregiver’s language. Patient boards: Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, Malay (non-Chinese content is AI-assisted, not clinically certified).

How it works

Three steps to get started. The patient does not need to learn a new interface language — family can set it up first.

Download

Available on iPhone and Android. Free to install — no account required.

Choose languages

Set the patient board language and the caregiver’s language. If they match, it speaks only once.

Tap to speak

The patient taps a large card; the phone speaks that phrase. You can add your own phrases.

For people who care for a loved one

It doesn’t replace a doctor. It helps someone who can’t speak right now still ask for basic needs.

Stroke and aphasia

Common needs are ready to tap — no typing or sentence-building.

ALS

Large buttons and fewer choices make the app easier to use.

ICU and post-extubation

Express discomfort, ask for water, or call for help when speaking is temporarily hard.

Care across languages

Nine patient-board languages; the same message can also be spoken in a language familiar to the caregiver.

Things we want you to know

The red emergency control loudly calls for someone nearby. It does not make a phone call or contact an ambulance. If you need emergency services, please have someone who can use a phone call locally.

Multilingual content is labeled AI-assisted and continues to be reviewed. Please confirm important or medical information with a qualified professional. Suggest fixes from Settings — don’t include names or medical records.
